Israel bounced back from the opening defeat to Albania with two wins on the bounce and they entered November’s final set of fixtures in the best position out of three sides. Can they defend the very top spot on Tuesday night when they travel to Glasgow to play Scotland at Hampden Park in teams’ final action for the year.

The Blue and Whites will head into the game in sky-high spirits following a demolishing 7-0 victory in a friendly against Guatemala on Thursday night. Salzburg’s striker Munas Dabour confirmed the good form by netting a brace on the occasion. Eran Zahavi, Taleb Tawatha, Dia Saba and Ben Sahar were all also on the scoreline for Israel. It was the third consecutive win for Andreas Herzog and his men who have indeed been flying high of late. Can they finish the year in style and avoid a defeat against Scotland?

Scotland vs Israel Match Stats

  1. The clash played last month at Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa was the first head to head encounter after 1981 between these two likes.
  2. They were battling it out in the World Cup Qualification back then when Scotland claimed wins both home and away.
  3. Scotsmen got off to a fine start in Haifa when Charles Mulgrew put them in front converting a penalty but Israel managed to turn things around in the second half and eventually pick up their maiden win over Scotland.

The hosts will enter the game in a completely opposite mood. They shipped as many as five goals in back-to-back defeats to Israel and Portugal in October. To make things worse for Alex McLeish, he will have more problems coming into this one as Celtic’s left-back Kieran Tierney had to withdraw from the national team through injury.

He is ninth player to have dropped out of squad and it’s really hard to see a positive result coming for McLeish and his men given they will be playing an in-form opposition here.
