Match preview

Both Tottenham and Southampton suffered demoralising results at the weekend and will be hoping to bounce back from them straight away. Spurs will be grateful to come up against Southampton, with the south coast club in turmoil and with a caretaker taking charge. Southampton’s draw against Manchester United doesn’t look bad on the surface of things but they will be disappointed to not take all three points after leading 2-0 early on.

Moreover, Tottenham ace Harry Kane will be hoping to build on his good goalscoring record against Saints. The Spurs frontman hit a hat-trick in this fixture last season. Mauricio Pochettino faces off against his old club and he is hoping that they can turn their season around.

Team news

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to bounce back from their north London derby defeat by piling the misery on a struggling Saints team. Tottenham will look to bounce back from their loss in the north London derby with a game against relegation candidates Southampton.

Spurs were comprehensively beaten 4-2 by Arsenal at the weekend at the Emirates whilst Southampton threw away a two-goal lead to draw with Manchester United. The Saints appointed former RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl prior to the game but not in time to take full charge.

Arsenal vs Huddersfield Stats:

  1. Spurs have won eight of their last 10 PL home matches against Southampton, losing only in September 2003 and May 2016.
  2. Harry Kane has scored six goals in his last five PL matches against Southampton, including a hat-trick in this fixture last season.
  3. Dele Alli has had a hand in eight goals in five PL matches against Southampton, with five goals and three assists, more than he has against any other side.
  4. Stuart Armstrong, who has scored three goals in his last two PL matches for Southampton, could now become the first player to score in three consecutive appearances for Saints in the competition since Manolo Gabbiadini in March 2017.

We will now back Tottenham to secure all three points once again but we do feel Southampton are ready to boost a solid challenge, as we now go for a Home win & a YES on Both teams to score – which comes at a good-looking 3.00!

With that in mind, it’s easy to expect a high-scoring clash in London and we’ll now also go for Over 2.5 goals FT at 1.66! We have seen Tottenham regularly enjoying such games and we do feel they’ll be in great shape up front once again now despite a weekend disappointment now behind them.
