PTA to Block Non-compliant Mobile Phones

PTA to Block Non-compliant Mobile Phones: Earlier this Year, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had announced plans to block all unauthorized mobile phones throughout the country. Now they have formally announced the date of putting the blockade in effect. As per SMS alerts issued to mobile users by PTA, unauthorized phones will not work after 20th October, 2018. Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System, or DIRBS for short is launched by PTA to monitor the mobile phones through IMEI numbers and block unauthorized phones.

The DIRBS will track Phones and PTA will have the control to block unauthorized or Invalid IMEI numbers. To make sure your phone is compliant, you should verify if you phone is PTA compliant. To check your IMEI status, visit https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/. Go to this link and enter your mobile phone’s IMEI number. To find IMIE number, open the phone dialer and dial *#06#. Your IMEI will appear as in following screenshot:

Enter your IMEI number in PTA DIRBS website and check if your phone is compliant. Alternatively, you can SMS you IMEI number to 8484. You can also check your status via   Device Verification System (DVS) – DIRBS Pakistan App from play store.

As per warning issued via SMS, non-compliant devices will be blocked.
